No company or institution that is not an official commercial partner of the Eurovision Song Contest approved by EBU/Highlight Event will be entitled to associate with the Eurovision Song Contest in any way.
The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is Europe’s biggest TV entertainment show which attracts over 70 million TV viewers for the Final alone. In addition to that it is also a major event which lasts for two weeks and creates a lot of awareness and publicity across Europe and especially in the host country and host city. The magnitude of the event and its strong public interest lead to a high interest from companies to associate with the ESC.
Since 2004 a centralized marketing programme has been successfully implemented for the ESC. The commercial concept for the ESC allows companies to be officially associated with the event by purchasing commercial packages.
Commercial packages exist on different levels, with different rights at each level. This allows the flexibility needed to create a customized platform that fits the commercial needs of the potential partners at each level of the ESC organization.
A very important key principle of this concept is exclusivity, relating to the overall amount of commercial partners of the event, the product category of those commercial partners and the scope of rights granted to partners on the different package levels.
To create exclusivity:
- the amount of International and National Partners is limited to not dilute the value of the individual packages and no 3rd parties can be granted commercial rights
- two companies with the same or competing products or services cannot both be partners
- all commercial partners will have rights in several areas, the scope of these will be determined by the level of the sponsorship package (International Partner vs. National Partner vs. Supplier)
As the official commercial partners of the ESC provide significant support to the event by cash payments or product supply, their commitment to the ESC has to be honored and their status protected at all times against 3rd parties trying to ambush the event and its commercial partners.
No company or institution that is not an official commercial partner of the ESC approved by EBU/Highlight Event will be entitled to associate with the ESC in any way.
