An evening with Ted Gärdestad’s music and his brother Kenneth’s lyrics
Ted Gärdestad would have turned 60 this year and competed four times in Melodifestivalen. That’s why we celebrate him tonight.
19:00–19:15 The Ted Gärdestad scholarship
For the 17th year in a row, the Ted Gärdestad scholarship is awarded by two of the founders of the Ted Gärdestad memorial fund, Janne Schaffer and Kenneth Gärdestad. This year's scholarship goes to the Stockholm trio Södra Station.
19:30–21:30 The celebratory concert Sol Vind och Vatten
The concert is built on Ted Gärdestad’s original arrangements. The host is Janne Schaffer, who was Ted’s personal friend and played on almost all of his songs. He talks about the music, about the person Ted was and also joins the band. Soloists Sonja Aldén and Kristin Amparo are brilliant Gärdestad’s interpreters and have been handpicked alongside Johan Boding
whose vocal pitch is very similar to Ted’s high tenor. The musical director Peter Ljung has gathered some of Sweden’s top musicians. The concert contains some of Ted’s most popular songs and had been performed all around the country with splendid reviews. This is the first time it’s played in Stockholm.
12:00–15:00 Studiefrämjandet: dance, music and performance!
